Where
We Serve
The Refugee Crisis
Lawyers for Good supports migrants that have found their way to Greece, where tens of thousands of refugees are currently surviving in camps and sub-standard living conditions. We’ve been able to provide assistance with asylum applications and in cases involving the deportation of minors, working closely with an affiliated team of Greek lawyers. We’ve been involved with a number of family reunification cases to reunite minors with adult family members already resident in countries through Europe.
We also work closely with charities on the ground to provide humanitarian assistance, such as the delivery of medical supplies and provision of housing.
We encourage our lawyers to travel out to Greece on pre-organised trips in order to fully immerse themselves in the realities of the crisis and get to know the families that they are supporting.
Charities
Lawyers for Good has provided ad hoc and ongoing support to charities in the UK and beyond. This has included assistance in:
Establishment as a registered charity
Drafting contracts of employment
Terms of reference for the board of trustees
Applying for funding
We also provide a consultancy service to charities. We advise on strategy for the distribution of funds, and in the establishment of good governance and reporting practices.
Social Enterprises
Lawyers for Good works with not-for-profits, social enterprises and for-purpose companies in the set-up phase. We’re usually involved in the very early stages, prior to any Series A funding.
We help with preparing company incorporation documents and agreements with shareholders, directors and other relevant parties.
Our internal LFG database of template documents can be used for this purpose, and have been prepared by Magic Circle lawyers with corporate and start-up experience.
Country Projects
Malawi
Lawyers for Good has close ties with a number of projects in Malawi, a special country known as the ‘warm heart of Africa’ thanks to a sunny climate and the luminous spirit of its people. It is one of the poorest countries on earth.
In the last 50 or so years since independence, Malawi has become increasing reliant on foreign aid, perpetuating a cycle of dependence and poverty. A substantial grassroots push in the country aims to implement the ethos of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and create a culture of self-governance and workforce empowerment, and thus the eradication of poverty.
We offer support to this movement, and particularly to the women at the forefront, through a number of projects and programmes.
